Cooking out the back of the Hut

Cooking out the back of the Hut

The Cub movement first started in 1916 and was based around the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Some of these early traditions remain today with Cub Leaders being named after characters from the book and the opening and closing ceremonies being known as the Grand Howl.

Heslington Cubs meets on Thursday evenings at the Scout Hut in School Lane, Heslington between 6:15pm and 7:45pm.

What we Do

As with all the other sections we aim to provide a stimulating programme through fun and games.

The programme is largely based around the badge system. Cubs are encouraged to work towards the Challenge badges which require the completion of tasks either in the Scout Hut or at home. The highest award is the Silver Chief Scouts award which requires you to have gained all six challenge badges
